Have you ever felt like you were going through the motions?
Walking through life like it was out of your control.
As if possessed by some kind of locomotion.
Just counting down the days until you've grown old.
The people say hi and smile, but it's always the same.
Just the plastic expressions that they wear day to day.
But, how do you feel? Do you feel any shame
knowing you just walk on by and let them smile anyway.
~When you could say~
Hey you there! I'd like to get to know you better.
I know you've got something to say, so why don't we get together.
And since we're walking the same way, why don't we talk awhile.
And the next time you see me, the motions won't apply, no.

Every day there are so many distractions
keeping us away from the things that we really want to do.
Ya, all the people always trying to get some type of reaction.
Throwing out their words to try and change their mood.
But, can you keep your head, do you remember how you feel?
Can you tell them no, or are you feeling a little drowned?
Well, just live for your truth my friend, have no secrets to conceal.
Forget the petty things and find some higher ground.
You can journey with friends, but you can only arrive alone.
But just cause you made it yourself doesn't mean your friends are gone.
In fact, I'll bet you've made some new ones, who have gotten off the ride.
And they're now living life in the mind where the motions don't apply. Get it on.
